Mushroom & Peas Risotto (with step-by-step photos)

Risotto is one of my favorite dishes. I found it very easy to make and elegant.

You can serve it to children even it contains wine - alcohol will evaporate while cooking.
















Ingredients for 2 very big portions or 4 smaller ones (like one at photos):





250 grams arborio rice
olive oil
half of medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed

Curry chicken rice bake 咖哩雞焗飯


Who doesn't like curry chicken with rice? This recipe is slightly different, it's east meets west. It's curried rice topped with a saucy chicken curry and cheese. Lap cheong rice 臘腸飯


This simple rice is something I can indulge quite often since I know how to make my own lap cheong. DIY lap cheong is so much cheaper and I know there are no hidden ingredients or preservatives. The is a simple meal, steamed lap cheong with rice and some steamed/blanched green vegetable. To add more flavour I added a dollop of ginger spring onion sauce.

Simple lunch today, tomato and egg fried rice. Tomato and egg are such good combination, universal favourite. I am sure there is at least one dish made with tomato and egg in every country. Just Chinese dishes I can count at least half a dozen classics with just two simple ingredients like:

Spam and XO sauce fried rice

Spam is my regular store cupboard ingredient. Ayam Kalasan with spicy yellow rice

Ayam Kalasan is Javanese spicy fried chicken. The chicken is cooked twice; i.e. first simmer in liquid then deep fry or shallow fry. Bought a large pumpkin from the market, I already had pumpkin congee few days ago. This evening I had pumpkin rice which was rather nice. Khao pad bai horapa (basil fried rice with prawn)

Nasi Goreng Pattaya

Nasi Goreng Pattaya is a Malaysian street food, name after Pattaya in Thailand but has nothing to do with Thai, a similar story like Singapore fried rice vermicelli.
